PhD Career management 3 - 3rd year (cycle 39)

PhD Career 3

3 Credits
Minimum attendance: 50% + Passing the final test

The course will take a workshop-based approach to creating a career plan that can be used immediately, drafting a cover letter or CV, and preparing for a job interview: exercises in analysis and self-communication aimed at a diverse audience.

Many of the difficulties encountered between academia and the job market are related to aspects of communication, cultural references and specific language.

These critical aspects will be addressed both from a theoretical point of view and through practical application, which is essential for third-year students, when the time to choose a career is approaching and Ph.D. students are most interested in practical career advice.

The course will be taught in English.

The course lasts 7.5 hours and is divided into 4 modules:

  • Searching for a non-academic job: tools and strategies (2 hours online)
  • Professional destinations, roles and life prototypes (2 hours online)
  • The selection process for non-academic jobs (2 hours online)
  • Owning a Ph.D. in the innovation ecosystem of Emilia Romagna (1.5 hours online)
