PhD Career management 1 - 1st year (cycle 41)

Communication skills for researchers 1st year (cycle 41) - Scientific and technical writing

3 Credits
Minimum attendance: 50% + Passing the final test

The course will be taught in English.

The course, offered in the first year of the PhD programme, uses a combination of objective data, information from the literature and reflections derived from the teachers' experience to encourage students to view their PhD studies from a broader perspective, recognising that the programme aims not only to train experts in a particular discipline, but also professionals in method and logic of research and innovation, as well as the management and creation of knowledge, which are fundamental in a multitude of professional scenarios in the contemporary economy.

Thanks to this paradigm shift, from the second year onwards, students will be able to experience their PhD and any further research experiences that may follow with greater awareness of the meaning and learning gained in all the activities to which research exposes them, and not only those strictly related to the subject of research.

The course is divided into 4 modules + 1 optional module:

  • Owning a PhD in the contemporary context (2 hours online)
  • Build your inner compass: the variable to guide aware career choices (2 hours online)
  • Networking for research and beyond (2 hours online)
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and design thinking (1.5 hours online)
  • Academic career starter's kit (1.5 hours online, optional)
