FameLab 2026
What is Famelab?
Famelab is an international science communication competition for young researchers, PhD students, postgraduate students, or second-level master's degree holders under 35. They must explain a scientific topic or their research clearly and in a charismatic way in just three minutes, without the aid of slides or presentations.
In addition to Ferrara, the Italian selections will be held in Bari, Cosenza, Genoa, and Trieste.
Why participate?
- Visibility: The top two winners of the Ferrara selection will advance to the national final, and the Italian FameLab winner will participate in the international final organized by the Cheltenham Science Festival.
- Prizes: Free movie tickets for use at Notorious Cinemas are up for grabs.
- Education Credits: Participation will earn 2 credits (CFU).
- Training: Free Mini-Masterclasses with national experts will be held between March and April to refine public speaking techniques (dates to be determined). The top two winners of the Ferrara selection will automatically qualify for the national Masterclass, featuring Wendy Sadler of Science Made Simple.
- Technical Note: The selection process includes two different speeches (pre-selection and final), both to be presented on the same morning.
