Declaration and request for embargo

The Declaration is an essential document for guaranteeing the stability, integrity, immutability, legibility and authenticity of your research, as well as being necessary for proving the intellectual property of the thesis. This declaration serves to certify your awareness that the digital thesis will be stored (in accordance with current legislation) in the University archives and the National Libraries of Rome and Florence.
Through the Declaration, it is also possible to request an embargo.
An embargo is the period of time during which the thesis archived in an institutional repository is classified and accessible only for the metadata part; the period of time can vary between 6 and 24 months. This request must be justified and authorised by the Academic Board.

The Declaration therefore consists of two sections:

  • The first section (pages 1 and 2) must be completed by all PhD students;
  • The second section:
    • Page 3 - must be completed by PhD students who do not request an embargo (in this case, no further authorisation is required from the supervisor/coordinator and the Academic Board; the document is complete and can be uploaded to the studiare.unife.it portal in the specific section)
    • Pages 4 and 5 - must be completed by PhD students who request an embargo; in this case, the approval of the supervisor and the Academic Board will be required and the document must then be sent to the coordinator by 10 October, together with the annual final report.
