FAQ
Is the abstract to be submitted by October 10th, along with the annual final report, the same one to be uploaded to the studiare.unife.it platform when applying for the degree?
No, these are two documents with different purposes. Specifically:
-
The abstract to be sent with the final report is an element of judgment, useful to the Academic Board for evaluating the thesis's admission to the Degree Award Procedure. The suggested structure is the one indicated in the Guidelines:
-
Research subject
-
Methodologies used
-
Results and impact obtained
-
Bibliographic sources consulted.
-
For any further specific details on the matter—e.g., length of the paper, format, structure to follow, inclusion of graphs, concise or complete bibliography of consulted sources, etc.—we suggest you to contact the PhD Program Coordinator.
-
The abstract to be inserted during the degree application on the studiare.unife.it platform (in Italian and English) has a maximum length of 4000 characters, including spaces (with the specification that special characters, including chemical formulas, are counted as multiple characters).
Request of PhD Course's unpaid extension of the and DIS-COLL
With regard to the possibility of applying for the DIS-COLL allowance in the event of an unpaid extension of the duration of the PhD programme (Article 25 c.1 of the Regolamento di Ateneo in materia di Dottorato di Ricerca), the INPS – Ferrara, in its communication Ref. No. 320104 dated 14 October 2026, has clarified the following provisions:
- An application for DIS-COLL may only be submitted upon the actual and definitive completion of the PhD programme (i.e. at the end of the extension).
- The DIS-COLL application to the INPS must be submitted within 68 days of the end date of the extension (the actual completion of the programme) and not from the date of the last scholarship payment.
- For the purposes of processing the application at the INPS, the key factor is the programme completion date indicated in the certificate issued by the University. The University will certify the end date of the PhD programme as the date on which the extension ends: it is therefore possible to request this certificate from the PhD Office from the day immediately following the end date of the extension.
- The processing and administration of DIS-COLL applications fall within the remit of the INPS office corresponding to the applicant’s municipality of residence.
