PROJECT AND AIMS OF THE SCHOOL

The objective of the Ph.D. School in Humanities and Social Sciences is the education of researcher and professionals with a strong knowledge in the following subjects: legal and historical-legal comparison; constitutional law; european union law; economics; science and technology for archaeology and cultural heritage; humanities and social studies.

The School aims at teaching high-level competencies in the field of the scientific research through an educative path that allows the candidate to prepare the final ph.d. thesis. Along this path the ph.d. student is supported from the School teaching staff, with a specific tutor as well. The aim is to make possible an innovative research programme in the field of legal and historical-legal comparison; constitutional law; european union law; economics; science and technology for archaeology and cultural heritage; humanities and social studies. The School teaching staff will give lessons and seminars, and support the ph.d students along their research. The aim is to allow the ph.d. students to prepare an innovative research thesis and to reflect on the most relevant questions of their scientific area.

The School will incentive a deductive-inductive research method, that is consistent with the features of research programmes in humanities and social sciences. The student is requested to carry out theoretical studies, and to analyse case studies and to carry out research visits, as well. Case studies and research visits can regard public bodies, not for profit organizations an profit organizations. In this respect an international comparison perspective is strongly requested. Particularly, the international perspecitve is supported through the organization of seminars and conferences held by international scholars and professionals. International experiences carried out form the ph.d. student during the ph-d- course are particularly appreciated.

The ph.d. programme encompasses teaching lessons, seminars, joint activities with lessons and seminars held among Master programmes, research and study visits, and research experiences in foreign universities and research centres.

At the conclusion of the ph.d. course the student should have developed skills and competencies in the following areas: research activities; presentation of research paper in national and international conferences; publication of research papers in national and international journals and books; networking and research groups; analysis and interpretation of scientific texts, both in Italian and English language.
